The Henry Ford Makes Massive Artifact Collection Available Online With Progress

The Henry Ford, a non-profit cultural institution with a vast collection of 26 million artifacts, needed to consolidate more than 40 websites and microsites and make its digital images, videos, and stories searchable and accessible worldwide. To balance scale, mobile responsiveness, SEO, and budget, it worked with Progress Software and its Sitefinity CMS, implemented with support from Perficient Digital.

Progress Software’s Sitefinity CMS unified content and data from multiple systems into one digital experience, enabled searchable access to 56,000+ artifacts, and supported new e-commerce for high-resolution images. The results were strong: website visits rose 12%, digital collections usage increased 155%, social media referrals grew more than 100%, online revenue increased 24%, and The Henry Ford became about 50% more efficient in maintaining its web properties.
