South East Water Cleans Up Concession Claims With Progress Software

South East Water needed a faster, more accurate way to validate concession claims after Victoria’s Department of Human Services tightened eligibility rules and revealed that 90,000 of its 160,000 concession records needed updating. The company was facing potential fraud, revenue loss, and a manual, quarterly validation process that made it difficult to confirm whether customers were still entitled to discounts.

South East Water implemented a real-time verification system using Progress Software’s OpenEdge platform and Web Service client technology to connect its billing system with Centrelink’s concession eligibility database. With Progress Software, validation became extremely fast, fraud was reduced, data accuracy and productivity improved, and customer service was enhanced through automated checks and revalidation before billing.
