Progress Datadirect ODBC Driver Delivers Scalability and High Availability

VoltDB, a modern in-memory NewSQL database provider, needed a way for customers to visualize and access fast-moving data through standard BI and analytics tools like Tableau and MicroStrategy. To solve this challenge, VoltDB worked with Progress Software and its Progress DataDirect OpenAccess SDK to build an ODBC driver that would connect its database to existing analytics platforms while preserving high availability.

Using Progress Software’s DataDirect OpenAccess SDK, VoltDB prototyped the driver in one month and launched it in three months, cutting time to market by 50% versus building it internally. The new driver helped maintain the high availability VoltDB customers require, and it is already being evaluated for real-time visualization use cases in financial services and ETL monitoring.
