A Progress Software Case Study
Pero Vegetable Company, Inc. (Pero) needed a way to support aggressive growth in its produce distribution business while managing the complexity of freshness, inventory control, and rapid fulfillment. Because its ERP system lacked a warehouse management module, Pero was relying on manual processes and needed help from Progress Software and its partner Robocom to gain real-time visibility and control.
Progress Software, through Robocom’s RIMS inventory management system, implemented a warehouse management solution integrated with Pero’s existing Famous Software ERP. The result was major operational improvement: annual inventory counts dropped from 24–30 hours to seconds, truck loading time fell to under 40 minutes, shipping staff was reduced from 50 to under 20, and outbound load accuracy reached 99.5% or higher, delivering an estimated $50,000–$75,000 in manpower savings on inventory alone.
