Oracle NetSuite needed to provide its hosted SaaS customers with reliable data connectivity to third-party reporting tools and other business applications, while keeping pace with standards like ODBC, JDBC, and SQL. The company’s challenge was to meet growing customer demand for interoperability and advanced reporting without slowing development. Progress Software, through its Progress DataDirect and OpenAccess SDK offerings, was selected to help address this need.
Progress Software delivered the Progress DataDirect OpenAccess SDK, enabling NetSuite to quickly build standards-based connectivity with much of the underlying code already completed. This reduced development effort, shortened the learning curve, and allowed NetSuite to port older driver code in days. The solution was widely adopted: more than 300 NetSuite customers used the ODBC capabilities, and a customer survey found that over 60% rated the value of the feature 4 or 5 out of 5, showing strong measurable impact.
