Mohr Morawa, Austria’s leading book wholesaler, needed a faster way to answer customer questions about book availability and delivery times. Using Progress Software and its Progress OpenEdge platform, the company wanted to move from slow phone-based lookups to a Web-based service that would help booksellers respond to shoppers more quickly.

Progress Software helped Mohr Morawa implement a Web services solution that extracted real-time stock and delivery information from the Progress OpenEdge database. The system went live quickly without any additional hardware, reduced phone inquiries and telephone costs, and let booksellers answer customers in seconds instead of minutes. After four months, around 40 of 170 electronic-delivery-note customers were already using the service, with plans to expand further.
