A Progress Software Case Study
MIP Holdings, one of South Africa’s largest financial solution providers and a long-time Progress Software customer, needed a better way to manage very large OpenEdge databases and improve application performance without increasing administrative overhead. The company joined Progress Software’s Early Software Access Program to preview OpenEdge 11.4 Table Partitioning, especially to address challenges with large tables, backups, archiving, and costly maintenance.
Progress Software’s OpenEdge 11.4 Table Partitioning was the solution, letting MIP separate live and archive data, manage partitions independently, and reduce downtime and storage costs. The result was easier data management, faster maintenance, and significantly improved application performance, with no additional coding required and the potential to lower storage costs by using different media for different partitions.
