LocalTapiola, Finland’s largest non-life insurer, needed a more agile way to manage its property and casualty business while handling nearly 2 million policies, 2,200 concurrent users, and more than 2 TB of data. Its challenge was to improve policy, claims, billing, and payment processes, while also supporting disaster recovery, regulatory compliance, and large-scale reporting without overloading production systems.

Progress Software implemented the Progress OpenEdge-based WinSure solution with OpenEdge Replication. The result was a unified, more scalable platform that let business users configure products and process parameters without developer support, improved system availability and performance, and sped up deployment of new insurance products. Progress Software’s solution also supported 24/7/365 recovery, enabled real-time reporting, reduced maintenance and IT overhead, and helped cut paper use.
