Ahlers, the Antwerp-based logistics and maritime services company, needed a more reliable way to access accurate information and share real-time cargo and shipping updates with customers. Its legacy liner agency system was running on an outdated IBM AS/400 platform, and the company wanted a flexible solution that could integrate with existing and future applications. Ahlers turned to Progress Software partner Intris and its TRIS Liner Agency module.

Progress Software helped Ahlers integrate TRIS Liner Agency with legacy systems and EDI using Progress OpenEdge and Sonic ESB. The new setup eliminated double data entry, automatically fed financial data into Ahlers’ enterprise application, and improved access to critical information for customer service. The result was nearly 5% higher employee productivity in Antwerp in the first year, with Progress Software enabling broader integration across Ahlers’ ports and supporting retirement of the old AS/400 system.
