HP needed to expand its Database Archiving platform so customers could access long-term compliance data more easily through familiar SQL-based reporting tools. The challenge was adding ODBC/JDBC/.NET access to an XML data store while keeping archived data independent of the original application, database, or operating system. HP worked with Progress Software and its Progress DataDirect OpenAccess SDK.

Progress Software helped HP implement standards-based access to archived data quickly, without rebuilding the entire data access stack. The solution sped time-to-market and gave HP a unique offering for enterprise customers, enabling fast SQL queries against archived XML records for audits, inquiries, and investigations. HP reported strong interest from large customers, and Progress Software enabled the technology to move to market in record time.
