Haufe Group boosts search across 1.5 million documents with Progress Software

The Haufe Group faced a challenge with its content fragmented across multiple data silos, using Apache Solr and relational databases. This made achieving a unified view of all content nearly impossible, leading to poor search results and significant information loss for users. To build a central content hub integrating around 1.5 million documents, they turned to Progress Software and its MarkLogic database.

Progress Software implemented a cloud-based MarkLogic Content Hub on Microsoft Azure, creating a central document repository with a flexible data model. This solution provided a 360-degree view of all documents and enabled granular search through an API and services layer. The results greatly improved query quality and enabled linked searches across topics, with the system now handling 20 to 30 queries per second and peaking at 80, giving users access to a much larger and more interconnected data pool.
