Grand Prairie Independent School District, the largest employer in Grand Prairie, Texas, was struggling with an aging AS400 mainframe system that relied on batch processing, delivered stale reports, and forced many manual workarounds. The district needed a modern, integrated platform to provide real-time access, better support students and staff, and improve efficiency without adding IT headcount. Progress Software, through the Progress OpenEdge platform, was part of the solution chosen alongside Skyward’s Student Management Suite and School Business Suite.

Progress Software helped enable a Skyward implementation built on OpenEdge that gave GPISD real-time, reliable access to data and much better reporting and process automation. The district said control over information quadrupled in the first 30 days, state-report generation dropped from 16–32 hours to a button click, and one automated requisition process saved 20 work hours per week.
