Case Study: Foxwoods achieves instant access to Windows-based data for richer patron insights with Progress Software

A Progress Software Case Study

Preview of the Foxwoods Case Study

Foxwoods - Customer Case Study

Foxwoods, the largest casino in the United States, wanted better insight into patrons’ non-gaming behavior—such as hotel stays, dining, ticketing, and retail activity—to understand how those experiences related to gaming. Its SAS-based analytics environment on UNIX could access Netezza and other UNIX data sources, but it lacked an ODBC driver to connect to Windows-based Microsoft SQL Server systems.

Progress Software provided Progress® DataDirect Connect® for ODBC, enabling Foxwoods to connect its UNIX/SAS data warehouse environment to SQL Server sources, including the MGM Grand at Foxwoods website database. The solution went live almost immediately after installation, giving Foxwoods near-instant visibility into new data sources and improving its ability to analyze guest preferences; the team also gained a platform for expanding BI into areas like ticketing and slot usage patterns.
