Apero Solutions needed to modernize its character-based Progress OpenEdge Latitude ERP suite so it could be future-proofed and easily integrated with browsers, mobile devices, and third-party systems. Working with Progress Software, Apero used Progress OpenEdge 11.3 and OpenEdge Development Studio to rework the application architecture and expose core business logic as services.
Progress Software helped Apero implement a service-oriented approach with REST web services, separating business logic from the UI and enabling access from virtually any device or interface. The results included a richer web experience, faster mobile app development, and dramatically quicker integrations and development cycles: SalesXpress was built in about 1/6 the time, and a major web store integration was completed in about 1/10th the expected time.
