ABB Accomplishes Rapid Redesign of 111 Websites with Telerik Sitefinity

ABB, a global leader in power and automation technologies, faced a growing digital challenge: maintaining 111 country, product and portal websites on a 15+-year-old, Lotus Notes/.NET legacy CMS that lacked a web interface and was costly and error-prone to maintain. The company needed a modern, .NET-compatible, web-based platform that would be both editor-friendly and developer-friendly to support rapid growth and future strategic needs.

After evaluating several platforms, ABB selected Progress Sitefinity and used its multi-site functionality to rebuild and deploy all 111 sites — including multilingual and personalized content and intranet/ecommerce portals — in less than a year. The new solution delivered faster, more accurate editing, built-in mobile support, closer collaboration with Progress for customization and bug fixes, and expected hosting/infrastructure cost savings, with plans to expand Sitefinity use across architecture, APIs and documentation.
