Case Study: Gropper Dairy prevents IT failures and eliminates performance bottlenecks with Progress WhatsUp Gold

A Progress Case Study

Preview of the Gropper Case Study

The Gropper Dairy Uses Network Monitoring to Prevent IT Failures and Performance Bottlenecks

Gropper Dairy, a family-owned German dairy with about 500 employees and a VoIP-based phone system across 131 access points, needed a simpler, Cisco-compatible way to monitor its servers, switches, clients and network load. Previously using separate tools for different tasks, IT administrator Philipp Gerstenberger sought a single solution to ensure sufficient bandwidth, minimize downtime and keep business-critical communications running smoothly.

Working with service partner treeConsult, Gropper implemented Ipswitch WhatsUp Gold (Premium for 300 devices plus Flow Monitor and Application Performance Monitor) after a 30-day trial and a two-day rollout. The solution centralized monitoring, provided incident recording and rapid diagnostics, and has been stable since October 2013 — it immediately detected a power failure that affected two switches and eight access points, letting IT resolve the issue quickly and with minimal impact to staff.
