STIWA Brings Shadow IT into the Open with Ipswitch

STIWA, an Austrian systems-engineering and automation group with over 1,800 employees and multiple international sites, faced fragmented file-exchange practices that had grown uncontrolled—FTP, email limits and consumer cloud tools like Dropbox—creating security gaps, GDPR risks and widespread shadow IT. IT leadership set out to replace this patchwork with a single, secure and manageable solution.

Following a structured evaluation and proof-of-concept (with support from treeConsult), STIWA implemented Ipswitch MOVEit Managed File Transfer. The rollout was smooth and well accepted by users; MOVEit delivered centralized control, intuitive operation and GDPR-compliant handling of large files, effectively eliminating shadow IT and giving the IT team full oversight of all transfers.
