A Progress Case Study
Werkstätten für behinderte Menschen Aurich‑Wittmund (WfbM) is a medium‑sized care and production organization that employs about 700 people across five sites to provide sheltered workshops, residences and training programs. Its IT landscape includes physical and virtual servers (VMware and Hyper‑V), 250 user workstations and WAN‑connected production facilities, but a two‑person IT team and nonprofit budget made it difficult to maintain a comprehensive overview, perform remote diagnostics and receive timely, automated alerts.
WfbM adopted WhatsUp Gold with support from partner LargeNet, leveraging the IT manager’s prior experience with the product. The single‑dashboard solution discovers and maps infrastructure, monitors networks, servers, applications, VoIP and wireless devices, and issues automated alerts and repair actions. As a result, the IT team can quickly identify root causes, maintain continuous system availability across virtual and physical environments, and deliver reliable, cost‑effective monitoring for the entire organization.
