Milwaukee County, which serves nearly a million residents across dozens of departments, was hampered by a patchwork of file-transfer processes—multiple servers, SQL jobs, desktop scripts and varied schedulers—that created inefficiency, manual work and compliance risk. The county sought a single, trackable and secure enterprise solution to replace dozens of disparate systems and simplify onboarding across ERP, finance and HR use cases.
The county standardized on Progress MOVEit, integrating it with UNC shares, SharePoint, AWS S3, SSH, FTP and SMTP to centralize and automate transfers. MOVEit eliminated manual file movements and custom transfer code, delivered rapid adoption due to ease-of-use, improved security and auditability, and set the county up to expand automation, add modules like PGP encryption and significantly increase usage.
