A Progress Case Study
LodgeNet, a leading provider of in-room TV and Internet services for the hospitality industry, became responsible for broadband and media across some 1,300 hotels after two acquisitions. The rapid expansion left the company with hundreds of thousands of critical devices and interfaces but little visibility or ability to remotely monitor and repair them, creating a pressing need for a scalable network-management solution.
After a formal evaluation Lodgenet selected Ipswitch WhatsUp Gold, built standardized monitoring templates and master servers, and developed custom polling and dependency mapping to discover the distributed network. Within two weeks they could fully monitor their footprint; over a recent five-month period 97% of 1,500 network anomalies were fixed proactively before guests reported issues, customer-service reps can diagnose problems in real time, repair-related revenue rose, and Ipswitch delivered a ten-fold performance improvement and an automated dependency feature—enabling LodgeNet to increase uptime and roll out new guest services.
