Killeen School District Relies on WS_FTP to Support Over 45,000 Teachers and Students

Killeen Independent School District (KISD), the largest district between Austin and Dallas, serves nearly 40,000 students across 50+ campuses with about 5,800 teachers and support staff. KISD Technology Services needed a secure, centrally managed way to transfer sensitive files across multiple sites without installing client software on every machine, standardize encryption and administration, and manage roughly 6,800 user accounts on a tight budget.

KISD deployed WS_FTP Server with the Web Transfer Module integrated with Microsoft Active Directory to provide browser-based uploads/downloads, enforce account permissions, and scale across the enterprise. The solution cut training and administrative overhead, replaced disparate home-grown transfer tools, strengthened security for confidential records, and delivered the scalability to support current users and expand to additional districts.
