A Progress Case Study
Contingent Network Services, a 70‑employee MSP that delivers WAN, LAN and wireless design and support across North America, needed to replace an outdated and overtaxed edition of WhatsUp Gold that had become unstable after heavy use and a lapsed support agreement. Tasked with finding a low‑cost, high‑ROI network management tool that could support multiple customers, automation, reporting and strong vendor support, Contingent evaluated two competitors and the latest WhatsUp Gold before choosing the latter.
They implemented the newest WhatsUp Gold with a primary server in their data center, a dedicated internet connection and a backup server at corporate for automatic failover under two minutes. The solution offered simple installation, customizable device attributes for SLA/availability tracking, scalable architecture and robust reporting, giving Contingent real‑time visibility, reliable uptime and the flexibility to manage many customers—and eliminating the performance concerns they had with the older version.
