A Progress Case Study
Close Brothers Premium Finance, a leading UK and Ireland provider that funds up to £2 billion in premiums a year and supports over 3,000 brokers, depends on its network for business‑critical services and millions of customer transactions. The challenge was maintaining constant availability, getting timely performance and bandwidth visibility, and quickly confirming or locating faults so the Network Support and IT teams didn’t duplicate effort — including reliable out‑of‑hours alerting and contingency access in case of wider network failure.
Close Brothers has used Ipswitch WhatsUp Gold since 2003 to discover, map and monitor devices, ports and flows from a single console, using Flow Monitor for bandwidth insight, smartphone/SMS alerts for 24/7 awareness, and a modem fallback for access if the network or email fails. The result is faster, more accurate fault pinpointing, reduced duplicate troubleshooting, improved uptime and compliance, and greater confidence in communicating potential outages to users.
