A Progress Case Study
Cambridgeshire County Council, which administers local services across 60 divisions and works closely with partners such as the police and NHS, faced an urgent need to protect and streamline transfers of highly sensitive citizen and commercial data. Existing methods — Government Connect, generic FTP or sending encrypted CDs by courier — were clunky, insecure or impractical for large files, and the council needed a simple, auditable solution that met Information Commissioner’s Office guidelines and required minimal user training.
The council implemented Ipswitch MOVEit (Transfer, Ad Hoc and Automation), deployed by partner Pro2col and integrated with Active Directory and Outlook in days. MOVEit now serves as a secure transfer hub for more than 4,000 users, providing easy web-based file exchange, automation of workflows, full audit trails and broad protocol support (HTTPS, FTPS, SFTP, AS2), eliminating couriered media, speeding large transfers and helping the council meet regulatory and security requirements.
