Calling on WhatsUp Gold Professional Services for Faster Time to Value

Talladega County 9‑1‑1 consolidated incoming emergency calls across police, fire and EMS into a single countywide communications center serving a 760‑square‑mile area and coordinating dozens of agencies. After consolidation the agency faced a new, critical challenge: managing a complex, mission‑critical network (phones, CAD, microwave links and vendor equipment) with zero downtime to ensure immediate notification and fast recovery.

Ipswitch’s WhatsUp Gold Professional Services sent consultant Mike Nyland onsite for two days to optimize device setups, add SNMP monitoring of the microwave network, configure vendor‑component monitoring, and build detailed thresholds and reporting tied to emergency response needs. The implementation accelerated troubleshooting and redundancy, grew the deployment to 300 licenses covering about 130 devices, and supported comprehensive reporting — allowing Talladega County 9‑1‑1 to handle 99,000 requests for assistance and 252,000 calls in its first year without interruptions.
