Hörmann saves time and modernizes IBM i development with Profound Logic

Hörmann, a manufacturing and distribution company, faced a generational change in technology with aging RPG developers, dated applications, and green-screen user interfaces. To modernize its IBM i environment, Hörmann partnered with vendor Profound Logic and its German partner Task Force IT to find a way to supplement its core RPG programs with modern languages like JavaScript and Node.js.

Profound Logic implemented a multi-faceted solution including the CMOne change management system, the Profound UI web GUI, and Profound.js for Node.js integration. This allowed Hörmann to modernize its development environment, convert DDS files to SQL, and integrate new JavaScript developers. The results included significant time savings in daily work, faster reaction times, and better quality. Hörmann successfully hired new JavaScript personnel and is now well-prepared for the future, with plans to completely implement new manufacturing process programs on the new technology.
