New Mental Health Program Relies on Proficient Health to Connect PCPs with Psychiatry Specialist

Lurie Children’s launched the MAACC program to expand early access to pediatric mental health care by training primary care providers (PCPs) to manage anxiety, ADHD and depression while ensuring quick access to psychiatry specialists. The challenge was enabling PCPs to send PHI securely and reach the right psychiatry resource quickly—traditional calls, faxes and letters were too slow and inconsistent. Proficient Health’s PH Connect was selected to meet this need.

Proficient Health implemented PH Connect to provide direct, secure messaging with pre-set roles (referrals, assessments, medications) and automatic routing to the appropriate MAACC team member during defined availability windows. As a result, at least 32 different PCPs have used PH Connect to connect to Lurie Children’s Psychiatry service, enabling specialists to respond or forward cases efficiently and improving timely, secure collaboration with the potential to scale across the 15 CIN practices and 65 participating PCPs.
