ProEst and MTSU Bring Real-world Estimating to the Classroom

Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) needed a modern, cloud-based estimating tool to replace an on-premise solution (WinEst) and to give construction management students real-world, anytime access—especially after consolidating its Concrete and Commercial Construction programs. Dr. Thomas Gormley selected ProEst for the Commercial Estimating course so students could train outside the campus lab and continue instruction during the university’s stay-at-home policies.

ProEst’s cloud platform (cost estimating, digital takeoffs and shareable projects) was deployed in the classroom, giving 25 students in the remote-only estimating class unlimited access, peer-reviewable submissions, and instructor feedback online. The ProEst solution kept coursework uninterrupted, eliminated paper-based workflows, is provided to students at no cost, and strengthened MTSU’s technology-rich curriculum—supporting a program that now enrolls about 400 undergraduates and better preparing students for industry roles.
