Case Study: a major international chemicals and pharmaceuticals enterprise achieves cloud-native scientific knowledge management with PRODYNA

A PRODYNA Case Study

Preview of the World’s Largest Enterprises Case Study

Cloud-native computing enables scientific knowledge management over all relevant information since the inception of time

The customer, one of the world's largest enterprises in the chemicals and pharmaceuticals industry, faced the challenge of managing an enormous and heterogeneous collection of internal and scientific knowledge. Their research scientists needed a single system to search and compare the entire company knowledge since its inception, a process that was previously time-consuming. PRODYNA was engaged to create a solution that could handle massive, confidential data sets with extremely dynamic computing requirements.

PRODYNA implemented a cloud-native application on Microsoft Azure, built around a Neo4j graph database and a Spring Boot microservice architecture running on Azure Kubernetes Service. The solution dynamically scales from 10 to 150 nodes to process new data, utilizing up to 2300 CPU cores and 16 terabytes of RAM. This enabled the previously unfeasible goal of providing a single, secure knowledge system that is financially viable due to its pay-per-use cloud model, all while protecting confidential data with Azure Information Protection.
