ProcessVue solves the two-way remote alarm management issue on UK-Belgium bi-directional gas pipeline

Interconnector UK (IUK), which operates a bi-directional gas pipeline between the UK and Belgium, faced a challenge with its alarm management. With two separate SCADA systems at its Bacton and Zeebrugge terminals, the company lacked a centralized alarm historian, making it impossible to perform accurate analysis of the alarm loads its operators had to handle and to benchmark its performance against industry best practice guidelines.

To solve this, ProcessVue implemented its alarm management software. The solution involved installing data collectors at both terminals to unify the alarm data chronologically on a central server. This provided IUK with the accurate, centralized alarm analysis it required, enabling the company to measure operator alarm loads, identify nuisance alarms, and generate detailed reports to support regulatory inspections and incident investigations.
