ProcessVue improves alarm management and mean-time-to-repair at Drax Power Station

Drax Power Station faced a challenge in managing over 70,000 alarms from its multiple, disparate SCADA and DCS systems. Their previous alarm system was difficult to analyze, relied on unreliable paper-based reporting, and made it time-consuming to identify the root causes of plant upsets and production losses. The company turned to vendor ProcessVue for its alarm management and printer replacement software to gain better control and visibility.

ProcessVue implemented its software suite to parse, standardize, and present alarm data from all of Drax's systems onto a single, paperless platform. This solution provided clear sequence of events (SOE) analysis and advanced KPI reporting based on EEMUA 191 guidelines. As a result, Drax engineers significantly improved their mean-time-to-repair for critical equipment, eliminated nuisance alarms, and gained complete transparency of information, which was critical for maintaining the power station's high availability and reliability.
