University chooses Rubrik for disaster recovery to the cloud & simplified data management

Cranfield University, a British postgraduate university, faced rising costs and a complex disaster recovery strategy with its legacy backup solution. Their challenges included slow recovery times from an off-site third-party provider and an inability to perform granular point-in-time recovery for critical Oracle and SQL workloads. The vendor, Proact, introduced them to the Rubrik Cloud Data Management platform to address these issues.

Proact implemented Rubrik's solution, which integrated with Microsoft Azure for cost-effective archival and featured CloudOn for rapid disaster recovery in the cloud. This provided Cranfield with incremental-forever backups for fast point-in-time recovery. The results were significant, including a 26% reduction in total cost of ownership, a 75% reduction in their data center footprint, and recovery times for VMs that dropped from hours to minutes. The university also achieved an 83% reduction in time spent managing backups.
