A Proact Case Study
Durham University faced challenges with an aging and costly storage infrastructure that was complex to manage and no longer supported. An attempted replacement solution failed to meet their requirements, prompting them to seek an alternative. They partnered with vendor Proact to find a more intelligent way to store data that met both performance and cost targets.
The solution implemented by Proact was an on-premises Storage as a Service model powered by Pure Storage and NetApp technologies. Proact tiered the data based on performance and resilience needs, which provided significant capacity savings of up to 5x through deduplication and compression. This allowed departments to be charged for what they use and enabled the IT team to focus on applications and users instead of maintenance.
