A Proact Case Study
The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Bamberg, a diocese serving 700,000 Catholics, faced significant challenges with its outdated IT infrastructure. Its existing systems could not meet the exploding demands for speed, performance, and high availability, which hindered services for its 3,000 IT workstations. The archdiocese engaged vendor Proact to design a new solution that could provide scalability and reduce administrative burdens.
Proact implemented a comprehensive new infrastructure built around a NetApp FAS8040 MetroCluster system for high availability, supported by ClusterLion for automated failover. They also modernized the backup process with Commvault IntelliSnap and NetApp FAS255xHA systems. This solution drastically reduced backup times from hours to under ten minutes, ensured high availability for maintenance without weekend work, and provided significant cost savings through improved licensing and a more efficient design.
