ABN AMRO Unlocks the Full Value of Its Data With Cloud Data Privacy

ABN AMRO, the third-largest bank in the Netherlands, needed a faster way to make sensitive data available for analytics without exposing customer financial and personal information. As the bank expanded its data marketplace on Microsoft Azure, it struggled with long approval cycles and limited masking tools that either protected too much data or not enough. To address this, ABN AMRO turned to Privitar and its Data Privacy Platform.

Privitar helped ABN AMRO automate data privacy governance directly within the data provisioning process, enabling masked samples, purpose-limited datasets, and column-level protection through policy-based controls. Deployed on Azure with Databricks, the solution lets users assess data value in hours instead of weeks and is expected to reduce access time to minutes over time. ABN AMRO also estimated the platform would immediately support provision of 100TB of data annually, increasing the volume of safe, usable data available for analytics.
