A Privacy Analytics Case Study
The Better Outcomes Registry & Network (BORN), one of Canada's largest registries for pregnancy and newborn care data, needed to integrate comprehensive patient information from multiple healthcare systems to inform research and policy. Their challenge was enabling this vital data access while ensuring researchers and decision-makers felt confident in the level of risk associated with the data shared. To meet this challenge, BORN partnered with Privacy Analytics.
Privacy Analytics implemented its solution to help BORN safely share and use its sensitive data. The result was a robust registry integrating information from nearly 200 hospitals, practice groups, and labs across Ontario. This enabled BORN to amass over 1 million records for Ontario births, adding approximately 140,000 maternal records annually, thereby providing a critical data foundation to support and improve healthcare outcomes for mothers and infants.
