A Privacy Analytics Case Study
ASCO CancerLinQ, a wholly owned nonprofit of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, needed a way to give oncologists access to usable, searchable, real-world cancer data while protecting patient privacy. To support its rapid learning healthcare system, it worked with Privacy Analytics and used the vendor’s de-identification methodology and software to securely handle patient information from disconnected clinical and practice management systems.
Privacy Analytics implemented a proven HIPAA-compliant de-identification approach that assessed risk, automatically anonymized data, and trained CancerLinQ staff to manage the process. As a result, CancerLinQ can aggregate and share de-identified cancer data to support real-time quality feedback, guideline comparison, research, and hypothesis generation, helping practices uncover patterns and improve care and outcomes.
