APi Group, Inc. Eliminates 160 Print Servers While Increasing Functionality and Easing Print Management

APi Group, Inc., the parent company to 38 independently managed fire protection, industrial and specialty construction firms across North America and the UK, had grown by acquisition into 160 disparate print environments—one print server per location. That complexity drove high hardware and maintenance costs, little centralized visibility, and a heavy help-desk load supporting roughly 9,000 employees, so the company needed a web-based, easy-to-deploy solution to consolidate printing, manage all sites from a single pane of glass, and simplify printer installation.

APi deployed PrinterLogic’s web-based enterprise print management to standardize on centrally managed Direct IP printing, create a single distributed driver repository, and offer a self-service print portal. The rollout eliminated its 160 print servers (with deployment underway across all sites), centralized management and transparent driver updates, empowered users to install printers themselves, dramatically reduced help-desk calls and server rebuild costs, and delivered a strong return on investment.
