BAE Systems Improves Early Concept Estimation

BAE Systems' Underwater Weapons Division, a leader in underwater systems, required a solution for generating accurate project cost estimates during the early conceptual stages when hardware information was minimal. To meet this challenge, they turned to PRICE Systems and utilized the PRICE H and PRICE HL (Hardware Life Cycle) estimating software.

Using the PRICE Systems software, BAE was able to perform rapid sensitivity analyses by altering variables like complexity and maintenance policies. This interactive process allowed them to immediately show the cost impact of design changes, which improved the accuracy of their design, production, and life cycle cost estimates. The solution enabled more effective bid support and helped calibrate their costing models with relevant historical data.
