Airbus Defence and Space faced a challenge in verifying cost estimates to ensure its competitive project bids were both accurate and profitable for every stakeholder in its supply chains. The company partnered with vendor PRICE Systems to address issues with its disparate, Excel-based, bottom-up estimating processes, which lacked consistent cost targets and methods for validation.

PRICE Systems implemented a Cost Estimation Framework (CEF) built around its TruePlanning® software. The solution used top-down parametric estimating to set targets and the TrueMapper® feature to cross-check bottom-up estimates, improving accuracy and collaboration. The results included more credible and verifiable bids, enhanced data sharing across teams, stronger project control, and the ability to price projects to win while ensuring they remained profitable.
