Michigan State University implements language security technology to address runtime threat gap

Michigan State University set out to make information security a critical priority across a large, fragmented university environment. With multiple IT departments, regulatory pressures such as PCI, HIPAA, and FERPA, and a need to keep information flowing freely for research and education, the university needed security that would not slow development or disrupt each unit.

Michigan State University implemented Prevoty’s Runtime Application Self-Protection (RASP) solution to address the runtime threat gap and protect applications in production. Prevoty was deployed entirely on-premise with pre-built SDKs for Java, C#, Ruby, Node.js, PHP, Python, and Go, helping automatically prevent attacks such as XSS, CSRF, and SQL injections while applications ran; MSU said it has not identified any noticeable performance impact.
