TILDA Gains New Insights with Computer-aided Interviewing

IDS-TILDA needed a sensitive, ethical way to gather data from older people with intellectual disabilities so it could give policy-makers better insight into their needs. Working with Presidion and using IBM SPSS software, the team had to make interviews accessible, reduce respondent burden, and support participants who had communication or literacy challenges.

Presidion helped IDS-TILDA build a computer-aided personal interviewing solution with IBM SPSS Data Collection Base Professional and IBM SPSS Interviewer, plus analytics tools for statistics and text mining. The result was a clear, flexible survey process with built-in validation and skip logic; 753 participants were recruited, only one preferred paper, 730 of 753 returned for wave two, and IDS-TILDA gained richer quantitative and qualitative insights from the data.
