Travel Services Provider Gains World-class Efficiency and Scalability

Travelport, a provider of transaction-processing solutions for the global travel industry, was struggling to keep its server and network infrastructure ahead of rapid growth. Its teams were already near capacity, and expanding Linux and Windows systems made server deployment, management, performance, and resiliency increasingly difficult. Travelport turned to Presidio, along with Cisco Unified Computing System and Cisco Nexus Series Switches, to address those limits.

Presidio helped Travelport plan and engineer the deployment of Cisco Unified Computing System with Intel Xeon 5500 and 5600 series blades and Cisco Nexus switches. The result was a more efficient and scalable data center, with cabling and hardware efficiency improved by eight times, switches consolidated from 12 to 4, and server deployment time cut from weeks to hours. Travelport also reported 86 percent savings in total support hours, 70 percent savings in power and cooling costs, and 86.5 percent savings in data center floor space.
