King County Creates Shared Infrastructure on FlexPod and Saves $700,000 Annually

King County needed to standardize a highly decentralized IT environment that had produced duplicate efforts, inconsistent server platforms, and higher overhead. Working with Presidio, the county set out to build a secure shared cloud environment using FlexPod with Microsoft Private Cloud so departments could share infrastructure while keeping data isolated.

Presidio helped King County implement the FlexPod platform with NetApp storage, Cisco UCS servers and switches, and Microsoft Windows Server and System Center. The county consolidated from 48 data centers to 2 and reported $700,000 in annual savings, while also reducing the overall storage environment by 70% and creating a platform that could scale from 65 virtual machines toward 800 virtual servers over the next 4 years.
