Children’s Hospital Enhances Clinical Workflow

Miami Children’s Hospital, a 289-bed pediatric healthcare provider in Miami, Florida, needed to support an electronic medical records initiative with a new data center strategy. It also wanted to refresh end-of-life equipment, build a backup data center for business continuity, and move from 50 percent virtualization to a fully virtualized environment. The hospital worked with Presidio to address these requirements.

Presidio helped Miami Children’s Hospital deploy Cisco Unified Computing System, Cisco Nexus 7000 Series Switches, and Cisco MDS 9506 Multilayer Director for its server, network, and storage environment. The new architecture reduced backup time from two hours to one hour, a 50 percent savings, and helped the hospital reach 99.999 percent network availability. It also simplified administration and supported better productivity for doctors and staff.
