Broward Health Finds High Availability Disaster Recovery Capabilities

Broward Health, one of the largest non-governmental public health systems in America, needed a way to meet healthcare compliance requirements while ensuring physicians could always access patient information. Its existing disaster recovery approach could take days to restore operations after a catastrophic event, so the organization sought a high-availability disaster recovery plan that would also protect patient information.

Broward Health worked with Presidio to build an active-active data center configuration using a hosted Tier-4 data center in Miami and its existing site in Ft. Lauderdale. Presidio coordinated the deployment, integrated the technologies, and re-engineered the infrastructure so the two data centers could fail over automatically. The result was full redundancy, immediate failover for clinical users, less downtime for maintenance and performance issues, and no end-user downtime during the changes.
