Safeguarding Treasured Congregational Memories

Temple Rodef Shalom, a Reform Jewish synagogue in Falls Church, VA, needed a sustainable way to digitize and protect its 60-year archive of scrapbooks, videos, audio tapes, photos, sermons, and documents. To address budget limits, volunteer-based staffing, and security concerns, the synagogue selected Preservica Starter Plus as its digital preservation platform.

Preservica helped Temple Rodef Shalom create a secure, searchable archive with features like bulk metadata editing, text recognition, and a password-protected public portal. Through the Preservica grant, TRS received a fully funded two-year account with 250GB of storage, improved access to historical materials, and faster archival workflows for volunteers—supporting the digitization of more than 100 VHS tapes, 50 audio tapes, 16mm film, and additional records.
