A Presagia Case Study
DCH Health System, a public nonprofit health network in West Alabama, needed a better way to manage leaves of absence. Its manual, paper-driven process was slow, error-prone, hard to track across three hospitals, and created compliance risks, absenteeism, and frustration for managers and employees. DCH turned to Presagia’s cloud-based absence and leave management software to replace its fragmented system and improve control over FMLA, military leave, and hospital medical leave.
With Presagia, DCH centralized leave administration, automated absence coding and entitlement tracking, integrated leave data with its time and attendance system, and moved to a rolling FMLA calendar. Presagia also improved policy consistency, compliance support, and reporting, while reducing administrative work from three leave specialists to one. The measurable impact was significant: annual losses tied to employees exceeding FMLA entitlement dropped from $237,982 in 2010 and $132,054 in 2012 to just $3,179 in FY2014, and DCH also reported more than $200,000 in savings from decreased absenteeism.
