Delaware county Streamlines spanish Call processing With text-to-voice Translation

Delaware County's Emergency Services Department, which handles over a million emergency requests annually, faced significant challenges and delays when processing 911 calls from its Spanish-speaking residents using a slow, third-party translation service. To communicate effectively and dispatch police and EMS faster, they partnered with Prepared and implemented its text-to-voice translation service.

Prepared's solution provided real-time, automated translation, allowing telecommunicators to type in English and have their messages spoken aloud in Spanish. This eliminated the need for a third-party interpreter and integrated with their existing call-handling equipment. The results were substantial, decreasing average Spanish call length from 15 minutes to just 5 minutes. This speed enabled faster, more accurate dispatches, directly leading to an arrest in a weapons case and allowing for critical pre-arrival medical instructions to be delivered safely and efficiently.
