Unilever worked with Premise to better understand the frequency and locations of diarrhea and other infectious diseases in India, where poor hygiene practices were contributing to high childhood mortality. Premise provided data collection to support an early detection monitoring system and help Unilever target hygiene education campaigns more effectively.

Premise conducted 35,000 surveys and tracked household-level infection occurrences in near real time, while also measuring changes in household hygiene practices. The mapped infection rates informed public outreach campaigns, and the study found a 35% reduction in risk when a household owned soap.
